Longtime Kermit The Frog Voice Actor Quits The Muppets
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's not easy being green.
The longtime puppeteer and voice of Kermit the Frog is moving on from The Muppets.
Steve Whitmire took over as the voice of Kermit when Muppets founder Jim Henson died in 1990.
He was reportedly chosen by Henson's son, Brian.
There's no word why Whitmire is quitting or what will happen to his other characters including Rizzo the Rat and The Muppet Newsman.
Kermit will now be voiced by another Muppets actor, Matt Vogel.
