Kenny Phillips Has Sprained Left Knee
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New York Giants starting safety Kenny Phillips sprained his left knee with about 4 minutes to go in the first half against the Green Bay Packers and his return was questionable.
Phillips was injured making a tackle on tight end Jermichael Finley's 23-yard catch that helped set up a Packers touchdown late in the half.
Giants rookie linebacker Spencer Paysinger was the first to go down with a strained hamstring early in the second quarter and was declared out for the rest of the game.
Packers running back James Starks followed minutes later with an ankle sprain, and his return was questionable.
The teams gave no other details about the injuries to Paysinger and Starks.
