The Devils are 9-7-2, which might not be outstanding compared to what we have grown accustomed to with the Devils in the past, but compared to last year it is.
On this date last year, the Devils were 5-11-2, injured and searching for answers, and they went on to have their worst season in what seems like forever. But with Zach Parise back and Ilya Kovalchuk playing his second full year with the team, the Devils are meeting the expectations that they were supposed to last season.
Max Herman, Devils writer for WFAN.com and part of the Boomer and Carton team, joined me to talk about the Devils' solid start to the season despite missing Martin Brodeur for about a month and Ilya Kovalchuk for a couple weeks.

The Rangers won again on Wednesday night against the Islanders for their seventh consecutive win of the season. Now the Blueshirts will try to extend their winning streak to eight in a row on Saturday in Montreal to match their longest winning streak since the 1974-75 season.
Sean Avery has scored in back-to-back games for the first time in two seasons, Brad Richards has been as good as advertised and Henrik Lundqvist has been his usual self. And the Rangers have put together this run with their best defenseman, Marc Staal, having yet to play a game this season.
Brian Monzo, producer for WFAN and hockey writer for WFAN.com, joined me to talk about the hottest team in the NHL and the reason they are undefeated in the month of November.
