HBO has been documenting the seasons of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals leading up to the Winter Classic at Heinz Field on New Year's Day - and now we are just days away from the NHL's most intriguing regular season event.
For nearly a week, the NHL has had a crew hard at work, building a rink and ice surface on top of the football field, and Dan Rosen of NHL.com has been there following every second of the process. Dan joined me from Heinz Field to talk about the crazy work hours he has been enduring along with the ice crew, and to detail the whole process of turning an NFL field into an NHL rink.
