Judge Tosses 1 Of 3 Suits In Case Of Missing College Student Lauren Spierer
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – A judge tossed out a negligence lawsuit against one of the three men who were with Indiana University student Lauren Spierer the night she disappeared.
The Westchester County native vanished after a night of partying with friends in Bloomington, Ind. on June 3, 2011.
The lawsuits claim fellow IU students Corey Rossman, Michael Beth and Jason Rosenbaum, gave Spierer alcohol, and then failed to make sure the 20-year-old made it back to her apartment safely.
Spierer left without her shoes or cell phone and was later seen on surveillance video stumbling out of an elevator at her apartment. She was last seen wearing black pants and a white top.
The judge ruled in favor of Beth to dismiss the lawsuit and said she would decide on the lawsuits against Rossman and Rosenbaum by the end of this month.
Meanwhile Spierer's mother has expressed frustration with the dismissal of the lawsuit against Beth and said she hopes the judge rules differently in the other two cases.
No one has been charged in Spierer's disappearance.
