Judge Denies Bail For Accused Subway Pusher Naeem Davis
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A man accused of pushing another to his death from a Midtown subway platform will have to stay behind bars after a judge Friday denied him bail.
Defense attorney Stephen Pokart tried again to get Naeem Davis freed on bail, arguing that the evidence against him does not support a murder charge and that the push was self defense.
Judge Bonnie Wittner disagreed and turned him down, telling the lawyer, "I think it's a stronger case than you imagine."

The judge cited grand jury testimony from witnesses who said that while the victim, Ki-Suck Han, was drunk and verbally abusive, he was no physical threat to Davis.
He was drunk and stumbling, said the judge, like you see crazy people mumbling in the subway.
She said the normal reaction is to walk away, but what Davis did was push him on to the subway tracks.
She quoted a witness who testified that Han was propelled and fell like a bowling ball.
A prosecutor noted that witnesses said that Davis made no effort to help Han after the push and just watched as a train came into the station and hit him.
