Judge Clears Way For NYC Schools Chancellor
NEW YORK (AP / 1010 WINS) -- A judge has cleared the way for publishing executive Cathie Black to head New York City's public schools.

Black was slated to take over from Schools Chancellor Joel Klein on Monday, but opponents filed three lawsuits challenging her qualifications for the job.
Lawyers for the plaintiffs argued in state Supreme court that Black lacks the required credentials to even be a teacher, much less chancellor of the massive school system.
They sought to block the waiver that state Education Commissioner David Steiner granted Black allowing her to take the job.
On Wednesday, Acting Justice Gerald Connelly in Albany denied their petitions.
Plaintiffs' attorney Norman Siegel said his clients were disappointed in the ruling.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg praised the decision. He said Black is ready to get to work.
