Josh Thompson Remains Optimistic After Parting From Label

Country singer Josh Thompson and RCA Nashville called it quits this week and officially parted ways. Thompson was signed to sister label Columbia Nashville, but was moved to the RCA branch of Sony Music Nashville after the label underwent some restructuring earlier this year.

It wasn’t that long ago when Thompson first graced country music fans with his presence. In 2010 Thompson debuted his first album, Way Out Here on Columbia, which included some of our favorite hit singles from 2009, “Beer On The Table” and “Won’t Be Lonely Long.” This album sent Thompson to the top 10 on the Billboard’s Top Country Music Albums chart.

Thompson has since stayed in the spot light and released another hit single last fall called “Comin’ Around.” This single was positioned to be the lead single on his new album, Change, which was scheduled to debut this summer. However, this lead was pulled from radio before his exit from the label according to Keepin’ It Country.

Last month he revealed to CMIL that he recently completed a follow-up to Way Out Here and hoped it would be released later this year.

Change is definitely in the air for Thompson. Earlier this week he tweeted:

This tweet suggests he is optimistic about his future, and if this change proves beneficial, he won’t be “lonely long” and finding a new label should come soon enough.

Josh Thompson isn’t the only one to have recent label trouble.  Earlier this week it was reported that Kellie Pickler parted ways with Sony Music Nashville.
