Joke Is On Devils As Kings Fans Taunt Bench With Huge 'Jersey Shore' Heads

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- There's a situation in Los Angeles.

And we're not talking about New Jersey's 3-0 hole in the Stanley Cup finals.

Sure, that's a problem. But there was literally a Situation on Monday night.

The joke was on the Devils during their 4-0 loss in Game 3, when Kings fans taunted the team with huge cutouts of "Jersey Shore" stars Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, J-Woww, Snooki and Pauly D.

Cameras captured the surreal moment, which took place directly behind the New Jersey bench and coach Peter DeBoer. There was no photographic evidence that the likenesses of Ronnie, Sammi, Vinny or Deena made it inside the Staples Center.

DeBoer didn't look pleased, though that may have had more to do with his squad's predicament. Only three teams in NHL history have clawed out of a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series. The Toronto Maple Leafs -- way back in 1942 -- were the only team to accomplish the feat in the Stanley Cup finals.

Besides, as the New York Daily News pointed out, Matt Anderson of West Islip is the only Devils player who can claim to be from anywhere near the Shore.

DeBoer's squad won't have any chance to return to Newark for Game 5 if they can't get it done Wednesday in Los Angeles.

"Our backs are against the wall, and we can't lose any more," said Devils forward Ilya Kovalchuk. "It's never easy, but we got here for a reason and we're not a bunch of quitters."
