Girardi Irked After Camden Yards Field Covered, Yankees Denied Batting Practice
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's no secret that, with the way they've been playing lately, the Yankees need all the batting practice they can get.
But before Tuesday's game at Baltimore, they didn't get any.
Just after the Orioles completed their BP at Camden Yards, the grounds crew pulled the tarp over the field. There were some sprinkles during the time the Yankees would have taken batting practice, and no rain fell during the game, which the Orioles won 4-1.

It may or may not have been gamesmanship by Orioles manager Buck Showalter. Regardless, Yankees skipper Joe Girardi was clearly annoyed when he realized what was happening.
"They're covering the field?" Girardi said while speaking to reporters in the third-base dugout. "Of course, they hit and (now) they're covering the field."
The Yankees (8-16) are batting .234 as a team and are tied for last in the major leagues with 82 runs.
