Jets Coach Tired Of Answering Ryan Fitzpatrick Questions
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Jets coach Todd Bowles has had enough of the Ryan Fitzpatrick questions.
Asked by a reporter Thursday, on the final day of the Jets' three-day minicamp, how he sees his depth chart shaking out if the free agent quarterback ever re-signs, Bowles answered: "With all due respect, I'm through talking about Fitz. I'm going to worry about the guys I have on the team. I think I've expressed and said everything about the quarterback that I'm going to say at this standpoint. Until I get to training camp and see what happens, I'm pretty much done talking about it."
The only clarification Bowles gave on the QB depth chart was to say that Bryce Petty is currently behind Geno Smith, who has been working with the first team in the offseason.
Fitzpatrick and the Jets have been unable to agree on contract terms. The Jets have reportedly offered him a three-year, $24 million contract that would pay him $12 million this season.
Bowles said Wednesday that if Fitzpatrick signs, he would return as the starter. But the coach added that if the quarterback holds out beyond a certain point of training camp, he could risk losing his starting job.
