Jets Sign Ryan To 2-Year Extension
The New York Jets signed head coach Rex Ryan to a two-year contract extension on Friday. The team also extended GM Mike Tannenbaum's deal by five years through 2014.
Ryan led the Jets to an AFC title game berth last season, his first as a head coach. His new deal lasts through 2014.
Ryan's brashness has been a hallmark of the start of his Jets tenure, such as his mapping a postseason itinerary that included a Super Bowl parade for his wild-card team last year.
Team owner Woody Johnson even picked up on Ryan's bold style, predicting the Jets would make the Super Bowl in May.
The extensions for Ryan and Tannenbaum come at a time when several high-profile players are seeking long term extensions. CB Darrelle Revis, whom Ryan has said is the best corner in the league, hasn't ruled out the potential of a training camp holdout.
