Jets Reportedly Sign Fifth-Round Draft Pick Oday Aboushi
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets have signed offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, the team's fifth-round draft pick, to a four-year contract.
The signing Friday comes a day after the Jets agreed to terms on four-year deals with two other draft picks: offensive lineman Brian Winters and fullback Tommy Bohanon. The person spoke to The Associated Press about Aboushi's deal on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't announced the contract.
Aboushi, a Staten Island native, was a standout at the University of Virginia after starring at Brooklyn's Xaverian High School. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Aboushi will work at left and right tackle, as well as potentially guard to add depth to the offensive line.
Before the 2013 NFL Draft, Aboushi returned to Staten Island and the Midland Beach neighborhood to help out families hit hard by Superstorm Sandy.
The Jets opened rookie minicamp on Friday.
