Jets Activate Muhammad Wilkerson From PUP List
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Jets have activated All-Pro defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson from the active/physically-unable-to-perform list.
Tuesday's move makes Wilkerson eligible to participate in training camp practices.
Wilkerson spent the offseason rehabilitating from a broken right leg suffered in last season's finale at Buffalo. The injury required surgery in January.
The 2011 first-round pick has vowed to be ready for the Jets' Sept. 11 regular-season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium.
The 26-year-old Wilkerson had a career-high 12 sacks last season and was selected for his first Pro Bowl, but was unable to play because of the injury.
He signed a five-year, $85 million contract last month.
Right tackle Breno Giacomini (back) and wide receiver Devin Smith (knee) are the Jets' only remaining players on active/PUP.
