Jets' Main Task On Sunday -- Stopping Bills' Super Mario
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Jets' offensive line has watched plenty of film of Mario Williams the past few days.
The Buffalo Bills' star defensive end had 4 ½ sacks against Carolina last Sunday, looking very much like the Super Mario of the past. The No. 1 task of the Jets' line will be to try to protect rookie quarterback Geno Smith from the Bills' sackmaster this Sunday.
Right tackle Austin Howard will likely draw much of that assignment, although the Bills move Williams all around the line. Howard, who did a solid job against Williams last season, says the Bills star is the rare defensive end who is both a speed and power player.
Right guard Willie Colon said the Jets need to set a physical tone from the opening snap.
