Report: Jets Fielding Calls From Teams Interested In Backup QBs
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – While the Jets have said they're open to the unusual move of keeping four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, a market may be developing to deal one of their backup signal callers to another team.
According to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta, there is "soft interest" around the league in Geno Smith. The Jets have fielded calls about their surplus at several positions, including QB, Mehta reported, describing the process as routine this time of year.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is locked in as the Jets' starting QB, and the team had an eye on the future when it spent a second-round pick in April on Christian Hackenberg, making him seemingly untouchable. That leave Smith and Bryce Petty as the more attainable trade targets.

Smith, a second-round draft pick in 2013, is 17-of-32 passing for 140 yards with one touchdown and one interception this preseason.
Petty, a fourth-round pick last season, is 28-of-50 for 394 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
