Jets Add Wide Receiver Mohamed Massaquoi
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Rex Ryan confirmed at Thursday's news conference that the Jets have signed wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi.
The Jets are currently thin at receiver. That's partially due to Santonio Holmes' prolonged recovery from foot troubles. There is no timetable for Holmes' return.
Braylon Edwards has sat out of practice all week because of a leg injury. Ryan says Massaquoi has "had his moments in this league" and is a player New York was interested in coming out of college.
Massaquoi was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 19. He had two catches for 15 yards in the Jaguars' preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday night.
Cleveland drafted Massaquoi in the second round out of Georgia in 2009. Massaquoi had 118 catches for 1,745 yards and seven touchdowns in four seasons with the Browns. He caught 17 receptions in 2012 for 254 yards.
