Jersey Shore Towns Cleaning Up After Storm Triggers Coastal Flooding: 'A Mess'
MANASQUAN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Monday's winter storm led to coastal flooding along the Jersey Shore, making some roads impassable.
As CBS2's Meg Baker reported, Brielle Road -- a typical problem spot in Manasquan -- flooded two days in a row with each high tide.
"Brielle Road is a mess. The flooding took all the garbage, people's law furniture -- it's all over Brielle Road," resident Dave Bender told Baker. "Very little snow here. My son lives in Wall Township, seven minutes from here, and he got over a foot."

Farther north in Sea Bright, first responders made numerous calls for help from homes surrounded by icy waters.
Drone footage showed the power of the ocean in Belmar, causing some erosion and leaving behind debris.

The waves continued to roar onto shore Tuesday in Manasquan. Baker could see where the water rushed up and over the protective berm toward beachfront homes.
"Last night, the high tide came in, and that water was coming out onto road here," said one resident named Matt.

Locals know how to read the wind, which greatly affects flooding.
"This coming out the north and east pushes the water in and the creeks over by Brielle Road," said Midlige.
"Crazy thing is, the surfers are still out. So we saw about 20 surfers over on Dog Beach last night," Suzanne Midlige added.
The next high tide is set for 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
