Jersey City Hit-Run Victim Asks Judge For Leniency
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS/AP) -- A New Jersey man will serve a 364-day jail term for a hit-and-run after the victim of the accident pleaded for leniency in the case.
59-year-old Ricardo Torres was left for dead after being struck by 20-year-old Anthony Pane last June in Jersey City. Torres was in a coma for a month following the crash, 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg reports.

Pane must serve two years probation and perform 100 hours of community service in addition to the jail time under the sentence.
Pane also turned in court to Torres and apologized, Sandberg reports.
He pleaded guilty in June to leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated assault by auto and endangering an injured victim.
Pane was arrested 10 days after police released surveillance video showing his pickup truck slamming into Torres as he crossed a downtown street.
The victim's cousin spoke with Sandberg and explained why Torres' asked the judge to impose a lesser sentence.
"Because of convictions about passion and his own faith in God, he said it was really unnecessary to send him to an excessive period of time in jail," Torres' cousin told Sandberg.
