Jersey City Cab Driver In Critical Condition After Shooting; Suspect On The Loose
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A Jersey City taxi driver is clinging to life after police said he was shot in the head early Monday.
The cab slammed into a parked car after police said a passenger shot the 42-year-old driver around 1 a.m. on Gates Avenue, 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg reported.
The driver picked up his last fare at 12:45 a.m. in Journal Square and apparently drove the suspect to the Greenville section of the city, officials said.
It is unclear what prompted the shooting but investigators are looking into whether the drive was robbed, Sandberg reported.
The gunman was seen fleeing the scene.
The driver, who has not been identified, is listed in critical condition at an area hospital.
