Sources: Husband Sought After Woman Found Dead In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police suspect the husband in the shooting death of a 27-year-old woman in the Bronx on Sunday, sources tell 1010 WINS.
The body of Jennifer Ortiz was found in the passenger seat of a SUV on Morris Avenue in the Fordham Heights section just before 8 a.m. The victim, who lived in nearby Belmont, had a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
Before the gunshots, nearby residents said they heard a screaming argument between two men and a woman.
Witness Raisa Espinosa said from what she could hear the victim was a woman whose furious husband had caught her with another man in the SUV, 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon reported.
"One was the husband because he was screaming to her, 'You're my wife, Why are you doing this?'" witness Sheila Palacios said, adding she then heard seven or eight gunshots Sunday morning after the wodman screamed, "Kill me!"
"I've been for 13 years, and I never heard or never seen nothing like that," Palacios added.
Police caught up with Ortiz's male friend who was in the driver's seat and ran for his life when the shooter opened fire, sources said.
Police are searching for Ortiz's husband, 31-year-old Amauri Perdomo, who law enforcement sources said has been arrested on weapons charges in the past.
