Jason Bohn Arrested, Charged With Murdering Ex-Girlfriend Danielle Thomas In Astoria Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police made an arrest in connection with a recent murder on Saturday morning.

Officers arrested lawyer Jason Bohn, the ex-boyfriend of 27-year-old Danielle Thomas.

Neighbors found her body -- beaten and strangled -- in her Astoria apartment on Tuesday. Thomas had been staying at a battered woman's shelter, and it's not presently known why she returned to the apartment. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown told 1010 WINS that it is believed that Thomas was murdered sometime last weekend, and then was kept on ice in the tub.

On Tuesday, Bohn allegedly called the 114th precinct to report that an "unconscious woman" was in his apartment, saying that he couldn't call 911 because he wasn't in the area.

Bohn allegedly used Thomas' cell phone to send her friends several texts, pretending to be the dead woman hours after she was killed, the New York Post has learned.

Two handwritten notes were found in Thomas' apartment by police. The first note allegedly stated, "It was an accident, it was an accident, it was an accident ... I had been drinking and I was drunk when I got home. She was already asleep. I woke up and there was fighting between us, and when I woke up again she was unconscious. I am sorry."

The second note allegedly read, "Dani, I will love you forever."

Bohn was arraigned on Saturday afternoon, he has been placed in isolation and on suicide watch. Bohn will appear in front of a grand jury later this week.

Bohn has been charged with murder, tampering with evidence and other offenses.
