Jack O'Lanterns Are On The Rise At Old Westbury Gardens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Pumpkin carving has turned into an art form at Old Westbury Gardens, a historic Long Island mansion that attracts families from across the Tri-State Area.
The Rise Of The Jack O'Lantern is a Halloween experience that gets glowing reviews from visitors who marvel at the 5,000 creatively carved pumpkins, CBS 2's Dave Carlin reported Friday.

Art director Thomas Olton said that planning for the event is a year-round process.

"I don't think there's anything that we can't carve into a pumpkin. We definitely have worked very hard to get our illustration skills together. We have incredibly talented artists," he said.
Each carving takes hours to create. This year, characters from The Big Bang Theory and fan favorites from the world of TV, movies, music, and sports, along with some never-before-seen creepy creatures, are making their debuts.
Visitors to the event need to purchase tickets in advance and many nights are already sold out.
