"Stage six goes from the Tappan Zee to the George Washington Bridge," says race director and swimmer David Barra.
It's all part of the 120-mile, seven-day journey.
Barra says he is feeling it now. "I'm feeling pretty beat up. We had a tough finish yesterday. We ran into the flood tide," he says.
Tomorrow, the journey will end after they cross under the Verazzano-Narrows Bridge.
"The currents get stronger down here and we haven't hit the salt line yet. The water is still incredibly fresh," he tells WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
While he's tired, he says this is a great way to celebrate the river and to raise money for the Coney Island Brighton Beach Open Water Swimmers, Riverkeeper, and Launch 5 Hudson River Environmental & Safety Foundation.
"A lot of people do use the river," says Barra.
