Islip Residents Voice Concerns Over Proposed MacArthur Airport Expansion
ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Plans to expand a Long Island airport are drawing the concerns of residents.
As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, Islip residents who live near MacArthur Airport said they're primarily worried about one thing: "Noise!" a local resident told Xirinachs.
"When the trees have all the leaves on, it's not as bad. But right now, you hear it a lot more," said another man.

Noise, increased traffic and pollution are the biggest concerns expressed over the expansion plans, Xirinachs reported.
The expansion plan also includes a proposed tram to connect the airport to the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road station.
The plan still needs the approval of the Islip Town Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
A community forum on the proposal was held Wednesday night.
