Dueling Rallies Held In NYC Over Iran Nuclear Deal
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Midday gatherings both for and against the Iran nuclear deal were held outside the offices of fence-sitting members of Congress on Wednesday.
Outside Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez's downtown Brooklyn office, Ted Auerbach urged her support.
"It's not a question of trust, it's a question of what's best for the world, what's best for the people in Iran, what's best for the people in the United States," he said. "The only other solution would be a war. The same people that brought us the war in Iraq are trying to bring us this war."

Holocaust survivor Shirley Feinbach was among those in lower Manhattan trying to sway Rep. Jerry Nadler to vote no on the deal.
She fears Iran wants to destroy Israel and that the deal would give another regime the means to repeat history.
"This is terrible, it cannot be allowed and it has to be stopped," she said. "This is terrible for Israel, it's terrible for everybody."
The agreement would force Iran to curb its nuclear program in exchange for billions of dollars in relief from sanctions.
Last week, Nadler voiced his support for the deal saying, "there is no doubt that the Iranian regime remains a terrifying and remorseless danger to the world. Iran sponsors terrorism, threatens the destruction of Israel, backs regimes guilty of human rights abuses, and foments instability throughout the region. Unfortunately, the agreement does not provide answers to these problems, and so the United States and our allies will have to continue countering Iran's illicit activities on numerous fronts."
While Nadler calls the deal far from perfect, he said it will prevent the Iranians from developing or ever attempting to develop a nuclear bomb, WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported. Nadler's detailed justification for his position argues the agreement shuts down plutonium and uranium pathways to a nuclear weapon.
Congress has until Sept. 17 to formally weigh in on the Iran agreement.
