Investigators May Search Indiana Landfill For Signs Of Lauren Spierer
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The company that runs a western Indiana landfill says it is cooperating with investigators who might search it for signs of an Indiana University student from Westchester who's been missing for two months.

Republic Services spokeswoman Peg Mulloy tells The Indianapolis Star that the FBI wants to search its landfill south of Terre Haute. She says the company has been talking with the FBI for the past two to three weeks.
Bloomington police reportedly requested a search warrant for the landfill on June 16 as it looked for 20-year-old Lauren Spierer. The Greenburgh woman was last seen early June 3 walking alone to her Bloomington apartment after a night out with friends.
Video evidence showed Spierer stumbling out of an elevator, falling against a wall and being helped to her feet by a friend on the night she disappeared.
Authorities reportedly declined to comment on searching the landfill.
Charlene Spierer, Lauren's mother, said she can't understand the lack of compassion from the people who know what happened to her daughter but haven't come forward.
In a letter posted on July 22 on a blog dedicated to the search, she wrote writes that she's learned there is "an evil, a cruel, heartless element'' that cares more about themselves than her daughter's life.
Spierer said she will continue searching until Lauren is found and can be taken back home to Greenburgh.
