Internet Remains Source Of Four Loko For NYC Buyers
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Alcoholic energy drinks are supposed to be off store shelves in New York, but some distributors are still finding a way around the ban.
Bronx State Senator Jeff Klein said his office was able to purchase drinks like Four Loko online. He said sites were charging up to seven dollars per can by advertising them as collector's items.
"We were able to purchase nine cans of Four Loko off the internet, off Craigslist and eBay," Klein said. He's calling on both sites to remove all ads for caffeinated alcoholic beverages.
Klein also announced that $350,000 worth of the banned drinks will be destroyed at a Bronx beer distribution warehouse.
