NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – New Yorkers can now become a crime scene investigator, if only for an afternoon.
The interactive exhibit, CSI: The Experience in Discovery Times Square, opens Oct. 1. Fans of the hit television series are given three crime scenes to solve.
Guided by videos with cast members and real-life forensic scientists, guests are told why they're on hand and given three case files. Visitors then examine clues at each crime scene before they head to 15 forensic lab stations where they perform tasks like comparing finger prints, looking into bullet marks, and blood spatter analysis.
"Anybody who's interested in solving a puzzle and challenging himself or herself will have a lot of fun here," said Christoph Rahofer, President & CEO of Event Marketing Service. "Forensic science is a combination of biology, chemistry, physics, and medical sciences, so it's a great interdisciplinary field which has just so much interest and so many different things to explore and to experience."
One of the most highly recognized brands worldwide; CSI: The Experience has been a success in Indonesia as well as Taipei and Singapore. Fans of the show can expect openings in Australia, Orlando and Philadelphia.
"Everywhere we go it's highly receptive. It really is a cult project. I don't think that other TV franchises have that kind of long-term life and high interest for over a decade now. It seems that CSI: The Experience as a live version of a TV series will have a very long-term life as well," Rahofer added.
CSI: The Experience opens October 1 at Discovery Times Square located at 44th St. between 7th and 8th Ave.
