Injury Report: Quick Turnaround Hurts Jets' Chances To Beat Bills On Thursday Night
By Abraham Gutierrez
The final injury report for Thursday night's Week 10 game between the 5-3 New York Jets and the 4-4 Buffalo Bills is now available. As expected, there's no shortage of hobbled players following a very short week of rehab and preparation.
For the hosting Jets, Todd Bowles and his staff listed a total of 18 individuals who are dealing with some sort of injury prior to this pivotal showdown. While the majority of them are listed as probable, there are some personnel concerns for Gang Green in a game that most experts are calling an "upset alert" affair.
First order of business is pointing out the names of the players who will not be available against Rex Ryan and the Bills. After failing to take a single practice snap all week, safeties Dion Bailey (ankle) and Calvin Pryor (ankle) will not be an option this week, neither will be injury-prone guard Willie Colon (knee). This will be the third game Colon (who will miss the rest of the season after being placed on injured reserve to make room for an emergency cornerback shuffle) and Pryor are forced to sit out due to injury this season, while Bailey will be in street clothes for the first time in 2015.
There will be players for the Jets who, despite not being officially ruled out, are unlikely to take the field this week. In this instance, it would be a huge blow for the Jets if perennial Pro Bowl cornerback, Antonio Cromartie (quadriceps), isn't able to go, as his name is among those listed as doubtful for Thursday Night Football. With a quick turnaround following Sunday's (28-23) win over the Jaguars, Cromartie was been unable to participate in practice all week, making it highly unlikely that he will play. Thus, the Jets recently activated cornerback Dee Milliner (wrist) from the short-term injured reserve list.
The only other player listed as doubtful against the Buffalo Bills is a guy who has spent more time in the infirmary than on the field, as running back Bilal Powell will likely miss his third game in a row due to an ankle injury. This has to be a huge concern for a Jets offense, whose running game has gone cold over the past several weeks.
Here's how Gang Green's entire report looks like prior to their Thursday Night Football battle with the Buffalo Bills in Week 10 of the 2015 NFL season:
