Injury Report: Jets List 15 Hobbled Players Prior To Week 8 Battle With Raiders
By Abraham Gutierrez
A total of 15 hobbled players make up the (4-2) New York Jets NFL Week 8 injury report, as the team prepares to make the trip out west for a date with the ever-improving (3-3) Oakland Raiders. Todd Bowles and his coaching staff penciled in nine players as probable, one as questionable, another one as doubtful, and as of Friday afternoon, four Gang Green members have already been ruled out.
It appears that Jets running back Chris Ivory will be counted on to do the heavy-lifting, as three of the players that are expected to be in street clothes come Sunday are members of the offensive unit. After failing to take a single snap during this week's practices, wide receivers Chris Owusu (Concussion) and Devin Smith (Ankle) will both be missing in action in the East Bay.
Another player who was also unable to participate in preparations for the game against the Silver and Black is strong safety, Calvin Pryor (Ankle). The second-year pro out of Louisville had his name listed in the team's injury report for the second time. Pryor also appeared on the Jets Week 6 injury report due to a knee injury, but was able to participate in full team practices and contributed with seven tackles in a 34-20 win over the Washington Redskins. However, an ankle injury will prevent him from taking the field on Sunday, as the Jets will miss his production: 36 tackles, interception and a forced fumble.
Another player who will be missed this week in is back-up running back, Bilal Powell, who also continues to deal with a lingering ankle injury. In his fifth-season out of Louisville, the 27-year-old from Lakeland, Florida has not only proven to be injury-prone, but as a result, a real nuisance. Powell comes into Week 8 with 129 yards on 38 carries, not a single reception, and has yet to find the end zone all season long. His absence means that Chris Ivory, who also appears on the Week 8 injury report as probable due to a hammy, will have to split his touches with third-string running back, Zac Stacy (27 carries, 75 yards, one touchdown). Here's how the rest of the Jets' NFL Week 8 injury report looks like:
