Indian Point Energy Center In Westchester County Permanently Closes Friday
BUCHANAN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A controversial nuclear power plant in Westchester County will permanently close Friday.
The shutdown of the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan ends a decades-long fight.
The power plant has been a key source of electricity, but critics, including Gov. Andrew Cuomo, argued it's a threat to the millions who live in the region.
Pending state approval, Indian Point will transfer to Holtec International in New Jersey for decommissioning.
