The hurricane is churning in the Gulf of Mexico on a path toward Florida's Gulf Coast. Forecast maps show Milton could make landfall early Thursday in or near the Tampa Bay area.
Which Florida airports are open and closed?
- St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) will close Tuesday after the last flight leaves until further notice.
- Tampa International Airport (TPA) closed Tuesday and that it will provide any updates on social media.
- Orlando International Airport (MCO) will suspend operations at 8 a.m. Wednesday with no reopening announced.
- Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) will close Wednesday and Thursday.
- Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) closed at 4 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
- Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) will suspend operations at 9 p.m. Wednesday and resume when safe to do so.
- Miami International Airport (MIA) was scheduled to remain open.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) was scheduled to remain open.
- Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) was scheduled to remain open.
