Memorial Honoring Puerto Rican Community, Hurricane Maria Victims Unveiled In Lower Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A new memorial in Lower Manhattan honors the Puerto Rican community and the lives lost on the island during Hurricane Maria.
The memorial was unveiled in Battery Park City on Friday.
The multi-colored glass curves and ascending spiral were designed by architect Segundo Cardona and artist Antonio Martorell. Both are based in Puerto Rico.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office first commissioned the design on the one-year anniversary of the 2017 hurricane.
