Hudson Yards Development Taking Shape On The West Side

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, over the course of next year, a transformation will take place at Hudson Yards.

"During 2015 we'll complete 10 Hudson Yards and the deck will be finished. This time next year you won't see any rail yards," Vice President Michael Samuelian said.

Samuelian said No. 10 is already at 27 stories and on its way up to 52. When the project is completed, there will be 14 buildings at the 28-acre site.
"We're going to have over a 100,000 people a day living, working or visiting Hudson Yards," Samuelian said.
The building at 10 Hudson Yard was the first to rise because it is the only skyscraper that won't be built on a 37,000-ton platform that will cover the Hudson Yards railroad tracks, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported back in June. The platform on the West Side will cover 30 train tracks.
Related Companies is transforming the largest undeveloped site in New York into a new neighborhood with 5,000 apartments, five office towers, 100 shops, 20 restaurants, a cultural center, an observation deck shaped like a spaceship and 14 acres of open space and parks. The estimated completion date is 2018.
It is the largest private real estate project in American history.
A massive rail tunnel that will eventually provide another artery into Penn Station is also being dug on the project's south side.
