VERPLANK, NY (WCBS 880) - On the heels of Japan's nuclear disaster, officials in the Hudson Valley are trying to find greener ways to provide energy.
Aboard the Hudson River sloop Clearwater, lawmakers, environmentalists, seismologists, and nuclear experts are working Wednesday to think of ways for the Hudson Valley to move away from dependency on the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Buchanan.

Clearwater officials say their goal is to bring sustainable green energy to the Hudson Valley.
After a three-hour brainstorming session the outcome of the meeting will be announced.
Folk legend Pete Seeger launched the Clearwater in 1969 with the hope of cleaning up the Hudson River.
On its website, the Clearwater organization says it "is the 12 year old who starts a recycling program in their school, the leader of the DEC, the business owner incubating green jobs, the musician singing for a cleaner river or the parent who teaches their kids how to live in harmony with nature."
