NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A Howard Beach restaurant owner whose business was hard hit by superstorm Sandy is doing what he can to help those who lost everything in the storm.
Saffron Restaurant and Tapas Bar on Cross Bay Boulevard took on four and a half feet of water during the storm, owner Herbert Duarte told WCBS 880's Peter Haskell.

Duarte only got his power restored on Monday, but said now that his restaurant is functional again, he wants to help out this Thanksgiving.
"This is all my neighbors. This is people that come see us at my restaurant. So, it's time to give back a little bit to the neighborhood," he told Haskell.
Duarte said his restaurant suffered widespread damage in the flooding, but has bounced back.
"It damaged anything that was electronic, from computers to refrigeration," Duarte told Haskell. "Refrigerator was discarded, computers were discarded and we purchased new ones."
Duarte will be providing free Thanksgiving dinner to anyone who needs a place to go on Thanksgiving Day.
"Those that don't have heat, electricity, homes that really need it, that's what it's for," he said.
