Honor Flight Over Statue Of Liberty Featured Historic Aircraft
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - If you looked up Sunday afternoon, you may have seen a commemorative fly-over.
Six historic aircraft flew over the Statue of Liberty Sunday afternoon.
The Air Power Museum in Farmingdale conducted the honor flight at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The flight consisted of six historic aircraft - three B-25s, one P40, one P47 and one P51 - circling over the State of Liberty twice, according to the city.
Two T6 aircraft were accompanying the group to photograph the flight.
The World War II planes are also to pass over the World Trade Center in advance of the Sept. 11 anniversary.
The aircraft departed from and returned to Republic Airport in Farmingdale, the city said.
The flyover aircraft will be on display at the museum through Monday.
