Honeywell Cuts Ribbon On New Morris Plains Headquarters
MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The ribbon has been cut on Honeywell's brand new headquarters in New Jersey.
The 475,000-square-foot building on 40 acres in Morris Plains features state-of-the-art technology and greater energy efficiency than Honeywell's former campus in Morris Township, which was underutilized, outdated and costly, according to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dave Cote.
Cote said the conglomerate considered leaving the state, WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reported.
"The incentives provided under the Grow New Jersey Assistance Program sponsored by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority caused us to stay," Cote said.
"They demonstrated New Jersey's commitment to establishing a better business environment in the state and the strong desire to keep Honeywell here," he added.
Gov. Chris Christie said his desire to keep Honeywell in New Jersey was about much more than dollars and cents.
"People who have set roots in the community, who have their children going to schools, who have friends and family in the area. ... We don't want you to leave, and I suspect for most, you didn't want to go, either," he said. "And so, for us, this is about the human cost of inaction."
