Home Closings Down In Westchester County, But Up In Putnam County
WHITE PLAINS, NY (WCBS 880) - They border each other, but the real estate trends in two suburban New York counties are quite different.
Westchester County saw 5 percent fewer closings in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same time last year.
But Keller Williams Realtor Gary Leogrande says the number was somewhat to be expected in Westchester.
"The Westchester numbers are a reflection of that first-time buyer credit that was being offered last year," Leogrande told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
As for Putnam County, they saw an increase of 12 percent.
Leogrande says, again, no big surprise.
"Putnam is a smaller marketplace. So, obviously there's a lot less transactions taking place there."
While home prices are still coming down, he says a properly priced home will sell.
