Interior Designers Show Off Best Work At Annual Holiday House On Upper East Side
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Interior designers will unveil their best work Wednesday at the annual Holiday House on the Upper East Side.
The latest interior design trends are taking over an already stunning mansion on East 62nd Street. Inside the home, you'll find an array of different styles, but all full of grandeur.
While all the rooms may look different, one thing stays the same: All proceeds benefit a good cause.
Founded by breast cancer survivor Iris Dankner, the Holiday House gathers top industry designers to transform more than 20 spaces, from ceiling to floor.
At the heart of the four-story mansion lies the naked truth behind the event.
"I decided to combine my two passions -- my passion for design and my passion to eradicate this horrible disease," Dankner told CBS2's Alex Denis.
Now, eight years later, and with nearly a million dollars donated to breast cancer research, designers long to participate in the showcase.
"Cancer is ugly, and this is one thing I can do -- at least I can make it pretty," designer Antonino Buzzetta said.
Besides admiring the flawless rooms, including high-ticket items such as a $250,000 chandelier, designers will be on hand to dish on the latest trends.
"Our clients are all asking for pingpong tables, shuffle board tables, foosball, air hockey -- it's a thing," Lisa Frantz of Marks & Frantz Interior Designs.
The newest technology to hit the market is also featured, including new stain-proof material from which spills and marker stains literally wipe away clean with soap and water.
And if you see something you like, ask! It may be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The showcase is open seven days a week until Dec. 2.
