Singh's friends are angry, and they want justice.
"The man was a good man," a friend told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. "He didn't bother anybody, he didn't trouble anybody. He went his own way and he minded his own business. He would help clean up, he would pick up the garbage sometimes. And I want to catch who did this. Very badly, I want to catch him."
"He was the coolest guy in the world," another man added. "He didn't hurt a soul."
Witnesses told CBS 2's Ann Mercogliano that Singh was very well-known among members of the community. He had just left the Two Way Deli on 108th Street to pick up a beer when moments later he was killed.
"After he tried to walk back to the bar, this black car ran him over," the Two Way Deli manager explained. "I saw [Singh] right there in the street. It was quick, the car was going like 70 miles per hour."
Singh's family is distruaght over the Mother's Day tragedy.
"It's not right what they did to my mother for a Mother's Day gift," said Chateram Singh, Rohan's brother.
Police in the 106th Precinct are urging anyone who saw anything in this hit-and-run to give them a call.
