Historians Shine Light On Decades-Old Plane Crash On Mount Beacon
BEACON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Some local historians were in the Hudson Valley Saturday morning, hiking to a site they feel is worthy of attention and respect.
As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, if you make the hike up Mount Beacon, you'll still find remnants of a plane that crashed nearly 70 years ago.
"There were shredded pieces of metal. I just remember this plane hit Mt. Beacon 175 - 200 miles an hour," said David Rocco.

Rocco is part of a group trying to shine some light on the plane's history.
"The goal here is to do two things: is one honor the six Navy servicemen who were killed and we want to bring attention to this beautiful memorial park," Rocco said.
The park is located in Fishkill, Haskell reported.
The plane was traveling from New Jersey to Rhode Island when it crashed on a rainy November night in 1945.
