WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reports
But the highest prices are right in our area, on Long Island, where a gallon of regular gasoline goes for $3.21 and as high as $3.89 at some stations.
"Last time I saw, it was like $3.05. Now, on the gas station down the block, it's $3.19!" one man told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.
"I just paid $3.19 and this is cheaper because I live out in Suffolk and it was $3.29 around the corner from my house," another man said.
"They're not going to be $4.00. I can guarantee you that," said one woman. "I hope."
Gas prices are at a two-year high. A stronger economy and more investment in crude oil are given as the reasons.
