High-Rise Fire Kills Woman In Coney Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A hospital said a woman has died in a New Year's Eve fire that swept through a high-rise apartment on Coney Island.
Fire officials said flames engulfed the 22nd floor of the 23-story building just after 7 a.m. Friday.
A Coney Island Hospital spokeswoman said the victim was dead when brought to the emergency room. Her name and age were not immediately released.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The blaze was under control within about a half hour.
The cause is under investigation.
