Yankees Agree With Catcher Brian McCann On 5-Year Deal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- According to WFAN/CBSSports.com baseball insider Jon Heyman, the Yankees are in agreement on a five-year, $85 million contract with catcher Brian McCann. The deal would include a vesting option for a sixth year to take McCann's potential earnings to $100 million.

It would be the highest annual value contract signed by a free agent catcher in major league history. According to Heyman, the deal would also include a full no-trade clause.

The 29-year-old catcher batted .256 with 20 home runs and 57 RBI in 102 games for the Atlanta Braves in 2013. He is a career .277 batter with 176 home runs in nine major league seasons.

McCann has long been considered one of the Yankees' key offseason targets. He is a seven-time All-Star.

Earlier this winter, agent B.B. Abbott revealed that McCann has a huge respect for Derek Jeter and the Yankees' organization.

The deal is only pending the completion of a physical.
