Long Island Man Pleads Not Guilty To Slashing, Killing Girlfriend
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Hempstead man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that he slashed his girlfriend and killed her in their home last month.
Alan R. Espinoza, 26, of Hempstead, was with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the death of 24-year-old Neyvin Espinal on June 21.
Nassau County Police Detective Sgt. James Skopek said after the arrest that the couple got into an argument, which turned violent. Skopek alleged that Espinoza stabbed Espinal in the throat and neck.
The murder weapon was never recovered.
Espinoza pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail during a court appearance Wednesday.
Skopek said Espinoza and Espinal had been dating for a couple of months and had been living together for approximately four weeks.
