Heart Of Winter Keeping Temps In Teens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The coldest day and night of the winter season so far is here.
New York City will have a high of 25 degrees—13 below the average—and has already seen its low Sunday morning at 16 degrees, CBS 2's John Marshall reports.
Meanwhile, a frigid arctic wind is keeping temperatures anywhere from below 0 to single digits and into the teens as the Tri-State bundles up for the cold. The wind chill will be -10 to -20 in parts of the upstate while the Tri-State will feel a wind chill anywhere from 0 to -10 degrees.

Farther west into Pennsylvania, those attending the AFC Championship game will experience an evening at 11 degrees—and that temperature will continue to drop as the sun sets.
The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 19 on Monday. That's the coldest it's been in New York City since Jan. 16, 2009 when the high was 16.
The Arctic cold front will usher bitterly cold weather into the Northeast late Sunday afternoon through Monday morning as a high pressure area builds over New England. This will translate into frigid daytime highs reaching down to about 10 to 30 degrees below average during the coming days.
