Hearing Scheduled For Man Charged With Murder, Eating Victim's Brain
BRIDGEPORT, CT (AP) -- A Connecticut judge has scheduled a hearing to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence against a man charged with hacking another man to death with an ax and eating part of his brain and other body parts.
Judge Robert Devlin Jr. has set a probable cause hearing for Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court in the case of 35-year-old Tyree Smith. The Ansonia native was arrested in Lynn Haven, Fla., in January.
Smith is charged with murdering Angel Gonzalez in Bridgeport on Dec. 15. Police say Smith ate one of Gonzalez's eyeballs and part of his brain.
Gonzalez's relatives have said Smith deserves to be condemned to spend the rest of his life in prison.
A message was left Friday with Smith's lawyer, Joseph Bruckmann.
