HBO's 'Derek Jeter 3K' Documentary To Air July 28
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — HBO will air its much-awaited documentary on Derek Jeter's march to 3,000 hits on Thursday, July 28 at 9 p.m.
Major League Baseball Productions followed the Yankees captain for a one-hour special called "Derek Jeter 3K." Jeter agreed to let camera crews follow him at home and while he was rehabilitating a calf injury.
Oh yeah, there's also that long blast from Saturday, July 9 -- Jeter's 3,000th hit.
"MLB Productions gained extensive access to Jeter both at and away from the ballpark," the league said in a press release Wednesday. "For the first time ever, Jeter wore a microphone during two games including the one where he reached the 3,000 career hit milestone."
The documentary will include new interviews with family, friends and teammates. Also interviewed: Jeter's girlfriend, Minka Kelly, and Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner.
According to the release, the program "also will feature exclusive interview footage with the Yankee captain which was recorded shortly after he became only the 28th player in MLB history to achieve the milestone."
HBO Sports tapped their longtime voice, Liev Schreiber, to narrate.
